Below is a video of a town hall meeting led by our regional minister.
Where we are at
What is written below is from the prospective of our regional minister.
- There has been decreasing attendance at Pine Lakes Camp.
- There has been decreasing support from Iowa Churches.
- There seems be a lot of distrust from Iowa Churches/and the camp for Converge North Central and Trout Lake camp.
- Pine Lake Camp seemed to reject a lot of resources and other help from the CNC and Trout Lake Camp.
- A lot of facilities seemed to be neglected and are now run-down. Now we have a lot of expensive up-keep ahead of us.
- A lot of the issues above had been known by the previous leadership, but seemed to have been swept under the rug.
The Path Forward
Our regional minister has offered 3 ways of moving forward. They are listed below in order from his least favorite to most favorite options.
- There is a family that would like to buy Pine Lakes Camp and revitalize it and run it. They have been heavy supporters of the camp in the past.
- There is a large church in Minnesota that would like to plant churches in Iowa. They would like to buy the camp and run the camp.
- Ten churches go in together to buy the camp. These ten churches would then represent the board for the camp as well.
Pray
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns. I don’t promise I will have answers to your questions but I can possibly find out. The big thing is to pray! Pray God would lead us down the right path pertaining to camp. Pray specifically for our church to know what involvement, if any, we should have in this.
