Wednesday’s Devotional: “God Works During a Time of Isolation” (Nate Bergland)
During this time when we’re all trying to stay safe, maybe you’re chomping at the bit to do something physical to help. Maybe you are hunkering down, just putting parts of your life on hold. Maybe you’re somewhere in between. The good news, like many of God’s commands, is that the call to do good works is not dependent on where you fall in the spectrum.
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” – Ephesians 2:10
Regardless of our current situation, every one of us holds the power to accomplish good works simply by using our words.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works” – Hebrews 10:24
“Gracious words are like a honeycomb, sweetness to the soul and health to the body.” – Proverbs 16:24
Be thoughtful. Get creative! Give somebody you haven’t talked to in a while a call and learn something new about them. Be genuine and give them encouragement. Dare to be old fashioned and write a letter to somebody who you normally only text quick notes to. Let some of the love that Jesus shows you every day spill out onto those you know.
